Joseph Tiernan is a London based, award winning Production Designer and Set Decorator for feature films, streaming series and commercials. With credits from Netflix, Apple TV+, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon and Fremantle among others.

Since graduating film school I have been working within Australian and British art departments for several years in various roles. In that time I have gained 30+ film and television credits to my name, including films such as Ron Howard’s Thirteen Lives, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Aquaman, True History of the Kelly Gang, Swinging Safari, Mortal Kombat and many more.

Having designed several short films, music videos and TVCs I made my feature film design debut with Two Heads Creek in 2018 shot in central Australia and Bristol, UK. In 2020 I designed the feature thriller Kidnapped followed by the Netflix series, Dive Club. In 2021 I was Set Decorator on a Nickelodeon and Fremantle series shot at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast. I recently wrapped on The Red, my third feature as Production Designer shot at Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane, Australia.

Whether it is a futuristic hotel, a hundred year old ship wreck, or a dystopian hovel, I am always keen for a new design, set decoration or props challenge. I believe very much that the devil is in the detail and I have a strong passion for discovering new ways to create unique images.
